Yesterday a large cement pump over lorry arrived on site; a photograph of this is now on our Photo Gallery page. It has a mechanical arm which can reach out over 60m, attached to the arm is a pipe. One end of the pipe takes cement from the cement lorry and the other end directs the cement into each pile. By the end of yesterday all the piles were full of cement. Additional reinforcement rods were inserted into each pile ready for the next stage of the project.
Today they are trying desperately to remove one section of shallow end scum channel. We had hoped to reuse the original scum channel, but unfortunately they are made of clay and break-up very easily making it impossible. If we can remove a section containing at least one channel we can retain it for heritage and use it as a measuring guide for installing the new shallow end wall. We are desperately searching for companies that could make new channels using the original drawings.
