With the piling now complete attention has turned to the condition of the existing swimming pool walls. During the 05/06 winter close period O'Brien + Price Structural Engineers Ltd carried out numerous strength tests on the cement walls the results concluded that the walls were strong enough to be retained. However, they are covered with 70 years of rubberised paint product, some of which has bubbled and in places peeled away. Ripblast were brought in to blast off all the paint leaving the walls as smooth as possible. Unfortunately this has uncovered several render repairs that we weren't aware of and some other areas requiring render repair. When fully completed Dove will assess the extent of work required to provide solid rendered walls with the smoothest finish possible.
